About Me

I have been taking pictures since I found my parents polaroid camera at age 8. Before the digital age, I carried a film camera with me in my purse. I always had a camera on hand and was able to capture special moments in my life. Since 2010, I have been taking photos everyday or "photo of the day" documenting who I've met, where I've been, what I've done, etc. Today, I continue to take photos in hopes to capture a feeling or tell a story in my photography on Facebook and Instagram.

I worked at a movie theater when I was in high school. My coworkers laughed at me when I told them I want to make movie trailers. I'm glad that I kept pursuing that dream as I ended up doing it. I've always had an interest in being a video editor, I began to pursue it just after I graduated from high school. But, I didn't major in film right away, instead I went into graphic design because my parents were afraid that going into film was not going to be a stable or lucrative path for me. I felt isolated and didn't want to do it, and I wanted to quit. But, I stuck it out and after two years, I finally went back to what I've always wanted to do and  studied film and television.

This is where I came to life, I found that I was really good at shooting video and maybe that had something to do with my photography hobby. I produced, shot and edited segments for a magazine show on PBS. I started volunteering at a Public Access channel and later found myself operating cameras on live and live to tape studio shows. I became a Studio Technician, taught classes on various studio positions and cablecasting. I then found myself working in Government Access shooting City Council meetings and other government meetings remotely and in a little video booth at various cities in the Bay Area. I finally ended up running a studio in a semiconductor company in Silicon Valley before getting laid off and moving to Los Angeles.

I had no idea where to start when I came to LA, I just ended up working my way up. I was fortunate enough to have wonderful friends who let me stay with them while I got on my feet. I started as a production assistant/runner, which is probably one of the hardest jobs. But, I have to say I know where all the major studios are in Los Angeles because of that. I then became an assistant to several producers before becoming an assistant editor working at a trailer house in Hollywood. I spent many late nights in my spare time forcing myself to learn how to edit trailers on my own based off scripts that were actually used for trailers and scripts that were never made. In time, I eventually became a trailer editor and loved it.

In my off time, I have forced myself to get out and shoot. I do a lot of traveling and like photographing new places and different cultures. For years, I shot a lot of long exposure and landscapes. But, after moving to the flat lands of Florida, I found it more difficult to do. I fell into photographing wildlife, birds mostly. Now of course that has many challenges in itself, as I never know where a bird will be or what they will be doing. I hope you enjoy my photos, I will continue to go out and capture daily.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my work.
